Stainless steel pipes to be delivered to Flensburger Schiffbaugesellschaft

Flensburger Schiffbaugesellschaft are currently constructing a Ferry of 188 m length, that will be operated by Brittany Ferries between Caen in Normandy and Portsmouth in South England. One of the most frequented connections between the two countries at the Channel will be served by a vessel that offers latest state of the art emission reduction technology. Instead of bunker oil the “Honfleur” consumes LNG that emits substantially less nitric oxides as well as sooty particles.

LNG is stored in a container on the vessel and after full consumption it is replaced by a new one. On its way to the engine LNG merges into a gaseous state. Following this process gas cools down to cryogenic temperatures that the piping system which is transporting the gas will be exposed to. Pipes and components in stainless steel supplied by ms con-cept have been impact tested and approved by Bureau Veritas for this specific application at -196°C.
